At the end of May 2026, the 49th International MIPRO 2026 Conference (mipro.hr) took place in Opatija, Croatia. It stands as one of the region’s largest conferences in the fields of information and communication technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing.

The five-day conference highlighted the “Economic AI and HPC Forum,” which presented European strategic directions as well as the technological and infrastructural environments designed for developing AI- and HPC-supported smart industry. Speakers included Anders Dam Jensen, Director of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. The Slovenian AI Factory (SLAIF) was represented by Sašo Džeroski, the head of our department at the Jožef Stefan Institute and technical lead for SLAIF, alongside representatives from several European AI factories and their antennas.

The conference also hosted the “SLAIF Open Day: Services, Tools, and Training of the Slovenian AI Factory for Research and Industry.” Attendees were provided with details regarding SLAIF’s vertical AI services and their practical applications in energy, healthcare, digital society, and science.
