5th National Conference on Artificial Intelligence

As part of this year’s 5th National Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence – From Vision to Trust, discussions held on Thursday, June 3, 2026, focused on the opportunities and challenges AI brings to the digital transformation of Slovenia’s economy, public sector, and broader society, taking into account the international environment and its growing interconnectedness.

Partners of the SLAIF project – Slovenian AI Factories – played a significant role in shaping the discussions at the conference. The opening address was delivered by Dr. Vida Groznik from the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, who also participated in the panel Artificial Intelligence in Slovenia and the World – Current Status and Plans.

In the panel Plans and Implementation in the Economy and Public Administration, moderated by Prof. Dr. Slavko Žitnik from the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, participants included Dr. Sašo Džeroski from our department (and technical lead of the SLAIF project), who presented the project’s services, alongside Prof. Dr. Domen Mongus from the University of Maribor.

The panel Examples of Best Practices was moderated by Dr. Marko Grobelnik from the Jožef Stefan Institute, with Prof. Dr. Domen Mongus from the University of Maribor also presenting a case study. The presented examples confirm that artificial intelligence can be effectively integrated into the development of innovative solutions with clear added value for organizations, users, and society as a whole. The conference was organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, the Ministry of the Interior and Public Administration, and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, in cooperation with other government departments, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, and leading Slovenian academic and research institutions.
