The use of artificial intelligence in science can bring many positive changes in the wider society. Science and artificial intelligence go hand in hand: on the one hand, science creates a huge amount of knowledge and a lot of data, which can be used to train models, which then help generate new knowledge.

“Many examples of good and successful practice of how AI has helped solve problems can be found in the field of life sciences and medicine. A whole range of tools for medical diagnostics, for example, have already been certified,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. Sašo Džeroski, Head of the Department of Knowledge Technologies at the Jožef Stefan Institute.

Prof. dr. Sašo Džeroski talked about how the field of AI has changed in the last few years with the advent of generative artificial intelligence or large language models and about AI being a consequence of the technological development of the hardware required for it. He very clearly described Slovenia’s attitude towards artificial intelligence and its infrastructure. He empasized Slovenian AI Factory SLAIF and safety and quality of information that will be used to set it up. He gave an interesting answer to reporter’s question about Europe‘s place in the world in terms of progress of AI…

Marko Debeljak presented a system that deals with solving the challenges of modern agriculture.

Martin Žnidaršič spoke about a product that provides greater security to the elderly who live alone.

Dragi Kocev briefly described predictive models and tools to assist in the management of spacecraft.

Slovenian press agency release an article about European Summer School on AI

STA released an article about European Summer School on AI. The Summer School was organized by JSI, by University of Ljubljana, and by University of Primorska. The event was established by merging the summer school which was organized in the last two years as part of the EU project TAILOR and the specialized AI course called the Advanced Course on AI (ACAI), and is held under the wing of the European Association for AI (EurAI). The president of Slovenia also attended the event.
