ESQI is a qualitative multi-attribute model that calculates an index of
soil quality relative to a selected standard soil condition. Soil quality
is a largely subjective state related to the soil being "fit for
purpose". We have taken this to be a relative degree of excelency
(dependent on soil type and land-use context), so ESQI computes soil
quality relative to a standard soil condition, which is denoted by
"medium" values of attributes. For further reference see
ECOGEN Publications.
